A special opening program, “UK Cinema Weeks with DOMMUNE at 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku,” has been confirmed in collaboration with 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku, where every theater is equipped with the “SAION -SR EDITION-” sound system supervised by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

This five-week program presents a curated selection of five iconic films and visual works that capture the explosive energy of 1990s UK culture. Expanding on the spirit of the exhibition, the series brings the era vividly to life through the cinematic experience.

The opening film is Trainspotting directed by Danny Boyle. Thirty years after its original release, the raw impulse and despair of Edinburgh’s youth , and this legendary film, return to the big screen in the texture and depth of a 35mm print.

The lineup continues with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, the sharp crime comedy by Guy Ritchie, Boyle’s early thriller masterpiece Shallow Grave, and two documentaries spotlighting rebellious figures from the UK fashion world: McQueen and Westwood: The Punk, the Icon, the Activist.

Five weeks to experience the creative force of 1990s Britain in full.
